Juvenile critically injured in early morning crash in Burke

BURKE — A 17-year-old from Sutton was critically injured in a single-vehicle crash on US-5 near Burke Hollow Road early Saturday morning.

Vermont State Police responded to the scene around 1:25 a.m. after receiving reports of the accident.

Upon arrival, troopers found a 2005 Ford Focus about 30 yards off the roadway, with the juvenile operator located near the vehicle’s final resting position.

The vehicle was totaled, and the operator, whose identity has not been released due to their age, sustained life-threatening injuries.

The seat belt usage at the time of the crash is unknown.

Emergency personnel transported the injured teen to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital and subsequently to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for advanced care.

Troopers are actively investigating the circumstances of the crash and urge anyone with information to contact the Vermont State Police at the St. Johnsbury Barracks.

The West Burke Fire Department and Lyndon Rescue assisted at the scene.
