Driver arrested on DUI charges after crashing into tree in East Burke

BURKE — At approximately 8:32 p.m. on Nov. 24, Vermont State Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of VT Route 114 and Mountain Road.

Upon arrival, troopers found a car that had collided with a tree.

The driver, identified as 24-year-old Ivie Carle of St. Johnsbury, was not injured in the crash despite not wearing a seatbelt.

Troopers noted that Carle exhibited several signs of impairment and subsequently arrested her on charges of driving under the influence (DUI).

She was taken to the St. Johnsbury State Police Barracks for processing.

The investigation concluded that alcohol impairment and excessive speed were contributing factors in the incident.
