Boston arrest leads to recovery of firearm, drugs

BOSTON — A man was arrested on drug and firearm charges after a search warrant led to the recovery of a firearm on Friday.

At about 12:40 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 20, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested John Rosa, 30, of Dorchester, following an ongoing firearm investigation in the area of 121 Wilmington Street.

Officers observed Rosa entering a vehicle and departing the area.

They followed and initiated a traffic stop using emergency lights and sirens.

Rosa was handcuffed, and his vehicle was towed to District B-3 (Mattapan) pending a search warrant.

During the arrest, officers found a pill bottle containing approximately 25 grams of what is suspected to be oxycodone and $1,130 in U.S. currency on Rosa.

He was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (firearm), threats to commit a crime, and trafficking of class B drugs and was arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

Detectives executed a search warrant on Rosa’s vehicle at about 3:08 p.m., Friday, Nov. 24.

They found a SCCY CPX-2 firearm with eleven rounds in the magazine.

Further complaints for unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a large capacity feeding device will be sought in Dorchester District Court.
