COHASSET — A two-car collision on Route 3A North near Red Fox Lane resulted in a 58-year-old Weymouth man being transported to the hospital and traffic being disrupted for about 45 minutes today.

The accident occurred at 1:25 p.m. when a 75-year-old Scituate man rear-ended the vehicle driven by the Weymouth man.

Initial 9-1-1 calls reported one of the drivers unresponsive and not breathing.

However, when officers arrived on the scene, they found both drivers conscious.

Cohasset Fire paramedics were informed that only the Weymouth driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and promptly transported him to the hospital for evaluation.

Both vehicles involved were towed from the scene.

The Scituate man was cited for following too closely on a state highway.

As a result of the crash, Route 3A was closed in both directions, causing significant traffic delays.

The road was reopened around 2:10 p.m. after the accident site was cleared.
