Manchester police arrest man after ShotSpotter detects gunfire

MANCHESTER — Police arrested a man late Monday night after responding to a ShotSpotter activation signaling gunfire in the Second and Walker Streets area.

At around 11 p.m., officers arrived on the scene and encountered 35-year-old Hakeem Shepherd of Manchester.

Shepherd fled upon seeing the police, but after a brief chase, he was apprehended.

Authorities found shell casings nearby.

An investigation revealed that Shepherd had been in an altercation with a woman and discharged a firearm multiple times into the air during the dispute.

Shepherd faces charges of Reckless Conduct-Deadly Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Drug, and Resisting Arrest.
