FALL RIVER — Detectives from the Vice, Gang, and Intelligence Unit, alongside the Major Crimes Division and the Massachusetts State Police, conducted a joint surveillance operation in the Flint Neighborhood on Thursday, leading to the arrest of a Rhode Island man for illegal firearm possession.

During the operation, Vice Detectives received a tip that Robert Demenezes, 36, of Cranston, RI, was carrying a firearm.

Demenezes, known to frequent the Flint area, was spotted near Mason Street and County Street without a Massachusetts firearm license.

Upon his apprehension, a Beretta 22 short model was found on Demenezes.
