GUILDHALL — A Maine man was issued several traffic citations following a single-car crash late Thursday evening on US-2 near its intersection with VT-102.

Shawn Stephens, 34, of Bangor, was traveling west in his 2016 Ford Focus when he lost control of the vehicle, leaving the pavement and colliding with a traffic sign and a tree approximately 30 yards off the roadway around 9:55 p.m.

Stephens, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time, sustained minor lacerations to his right arm but declined medical treatment.

Troopers from the Vermont State Police – St. Johnsbury Barracks responded to the scene and determined that Stephens had been driving at an unreasonable and imprudent speed given the wet road conditions.

His vehicle was declared totaled and removed by Mackay’s Towing.

Stephens faces multiple violations including unreasonable and imprudent speeds.
