Worcester police seize firearms, cocaine in vice squad operation

WORCESTER — Police recovered multiple firearms and a significant quantity of cocaine following two search warrants executed by the Worcester Police Vice Squad on Nov. 16.

At around 9:45 a.m., officers observed Angel Ortiz, 37, and Zakarra Ortiz, 18, exiting a hotel room on Plantation St.

Both individuals were detained as police conducted the search, which yielded a large amount of cocaine and a loaded handgun within the hotel premises.

The investigation led to a subsequent warrant for a UHaul storage facility on Hammon St, where officers discovered an additional handgun and a shotgun.

Angel Ortiz faces multiple charges, including Trafficking in a Class B Substance over 200 grams, Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Improper Storage of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card (second and subsequent offense), Possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute, and being an Armed Career Criminal Level 3.

Zakarra Ortiz has been charged with Trafficking in a Class B Substance over 200 grams, Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card, Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Improper Storage of a Firearm.
