FAIR HAVEN — Following a thorough investigation into a reported theft from a River Street residence, Fair Haven Police arrested Mitchell L. Matteson, 48, on Sept. 27 on multiple charges including grand larceny, false pretense, and fraudulent use of a credit card.

The investigation began when police responded to a call on Sept. 11 regarding a theft at the River Street home.

The homeowner, who had employed Matteson, discovered that over $1,100 had been illegally charged to their debit and credit cards.

Additionally, a significant number of tools were found to be missing from the property.

Sgt. Dale Kerber, who led the investigation, revealed that the evidence pointed to Matteson as the perpetrator.

Following his arrest, Matteson was issued a citation to appear in Rutland District Court to respond to the charges.
