READSBORO — Devin Hanson, 40, was taken into custody in Readsboro following a police operation conducted by the Vermont State Police’s Tactical Services Unit. The operation concluded without incident at Hanson’s residence on King Hill Road.

Hanson faces misdemeanor charges including criminal threatening, violation of a no-stalking order, and violation of conditions of release.

The latter charge relates to Hanson’s previous arrest in August on a simple assault charge, where he was accused of assaulting a neighbor.

Following his August arrest, Hanson was ordered to stay away from the neighbor, who had also obtained a no-stalking order against him.

On Nov. 13, 2023, Hanson reportedly yelled and made threats of physical violence towards this neighbor, leading to the latest police response.

After Hanson retreated into his residence and showed signs of crisis, troopers coordinated with the Bennington County State’s Attorney’s Office to secure arrest and search warrants. Hanson subsequently surrendered peacefully on Tuesday evening when called upon by the Tactical Services Unit.

Hanson was transported to the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility in Rutland.
