Springfield death investigation reveals apparent suicide on Interstate 91

SPRINGFIELD — At about 7:22 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, Vermont State Police responded to a report of a vehicle stopped in the breakdown lane of Interstate 91 Northbound at mile marker 46.5.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered the driver, an adult male and the vehicle’s sole occupant, deceased inside.

Vermont State Police detectives, along with a medicolegal death investigator, conducted an investigation and determined that the man had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in an apparent suicide.

The investigation by the Vermont State Police is ongoing, but officials have stated that the incident is not considered suspicious or criminal.
