Merrimack brush fires lead to search for truck with flaming exhaust

1 min read

MERRIMACK — Multiple brush fires along the F.E. Everett Turnpike prompted a response from state troopers and local fire departments on Nov. 12 after reports of a truck with flaming exhaust pipes.

At around 1:30 p.m., witnesses observed a yellow Mack Truck with “Kallwall” lettering on its side panels traveling southward.

Flames were seen intermittently bursting from the vehicle’s exhaust, igniting brush fires at various points alongside the highway.

The Merrimack Fire Department, assisted by teams from Nashua and Bedford, worked to contain the fires, which threatened to spread into nearby wooded areas and approached residential properties.

To allow for firefighting operations, the right-hand travel lane of the turnpike was closed in multiple segments for about half an hour.

New Hampshire State Police from Troop B are actively seeking the truck believed to be the source of the fires.

They are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact Trooper Perciballi at (603) 271-3636.
