ST. ALBANS — The Vermont State Police have now determined that the event reported earlier today in Bakersfield is no longer considered suspicious.

Authorities were called to the scene at 3:10 p.m. after receiving a report from a 5th-grade student about a concerning encounter on Avenue Road, near the intersection with Egypt Road.

The student, who was walking home from Bakersfield Elementary School, claimed a black sedan with Vermont plates and occupied by two white males had approached her.

After the vehicle stopped, the men, one bearded and the other clean-shaven and estimated to be between 25 and 45 years old, began to walk toward her.

The student then ran back to school and reported the incident to the staff, who immediately contacted the police.

Upon further investigation, the Vermont State Police have concluded that there is no ongoing threat or suspicious activity related to this event.

However, they are still seeking any additional information that the public may provide.

The investigation remains active, and anyone with tips is encouraged to contact the St. Albans Barracks at 802-524-5993.
