MONTGOMERY — A single-car accident last night resulted in downed live wires and a temporary road closure, officials said.

At around 6:30 p.m., the Russell-Montgomery Police Department was called to the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Main Road, near New State Road.

The vehicle had collided with a telephone pole, causing live electrical wires to fall onto the roadway.

The driver, whose identity has not been released, sustained minor injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital by Hilltown Ambulance.

The Montgomery Fire Department and Massachusetts State Police also responded to the incident.

Due to the hazards presented by the live wires, first responders had to close the road to traffic.

Crews worked through the night to clear the scene and repair the damage.

Authorities were able to reopen the road at approximately 4 a.m. this morning after ensuring it was safe for motorists.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
