Two vehicles totaled in Waterbury crash, driver arrested for DUI

WATERBURY — A two-vehicle accident on Monday evening resulted in the total loss of both vehicles involved, with the driver of the first vehicle arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Vermont State Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash at approximately 5 p.m. at 88 S Main St. According to the investigation, a 2017 Toyota Corolla, driven by Wayne Honaker, 31, collided with a parked and unoccupied 2004 Honda CR-V.

Honaker, whose residence is listed as transient, reportedly fled the scene on foot before troopers arrived but was later apprehended at a nearby business.

Witnesses at the scene led police to Honaker, who displayed signs of impairment during interaction with first responders.

No injuries were reported in the incident, and the weather and road conditions were clear and dry at the time of the crash.

Following the apprehension, Honaker was screened for impairment and subsequently taken into custody under suspicion of DUI- Drugs.

He was processed at the Berlin Barracks and released with a citation for DUI- Refusal.

Additionally, he faces charges related to failing to stop after a crash.

The incident remains under investigation by Vermont State Police.
