POWNAL — Vermont State Police have arrested two Bennington residents in connection with an armed burglary and assault that occurred at the Burdick Trailer Park last August.

Douglas J. Marsh, 34, and Luzander Montoya, 37, face multiple charges including assault and robbery, burglary, unlawful restraint, and interference with access to emergency services following a lengthy investigation into the incident that left two victims, Chad Simmons, 34, and an 18-year-old juvenile, injured and robbed.

Authorities were called to the scene on Aug. 21 at 11:29 p.m. where they discovered that Simmons had been struck on the head with a blunt object and required hospital treatment.

The juvenile was also victimized when personal items and a cell phone were stolen, hindering their ability to call for help.

Marsh was apprehended on Dec. 1 at his Bennington residence and, after processing at the Shaftsbury Barracks, was released with a court summons.

Montoya, who was also identified as a suspect, is currently held at Marble Valley Correctional Facility and is expected to face the charges at a future court date.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to examine the details surrounding the incident.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in Bennington County Superior Court – Criminal Division.
