Readsboro woman arrested for DUI after nearly hitting police car

READSBORO — A local woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI after her vehicle nearly collided head-on with a Vermont State Police trooper’s car on Nov. 6 at 8:32 p.m.

Brittany Fields, 32, of Searsburg, was traveling south on Vermont Route 100 near Williams Road when her vehicle swerved into the northbound lane, according to the Vermont State Police.

The trooper, who was heading north at the time of the incident, conducted a traffic stop and observed signs of impairment while interacting with Fields.

She was subsequently arrested and taken to the Shaftsbury Barracks for processing.

Fields refused a DUI test and was later released with a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division on Nov. 27 at 8:15 a.m.
