Inmate accused of assaulting correctional officer at Northwest facility

ST. ALBANS — An inmate at the Northwest State Correctional Facility has been cited for assaulting a correctional officer, Vermont State Police said Tuesday.

The incident occurred at the facility on Oct. 17, when Paul MacLeod, 56, whose city and state of residence are unknown, allegedly assaulted Jatique Johnson, 30, of St. Albans.

Following an investigation by Vermont State Police with assistance from Department of Corrections staff, MacLeod was issued a citation for the offense.

Johnson’s condition following the assault was not immediately disclosed by authorities.

MacLeod is expected to appear in court to face the charge at a later date.

Vermont State Police continue to investigate the incident.
