Worcester man arrested for firearms charges after shots fired incident

WORCESTER –– Police arrested a 19-year-old man on multiple firearms charges after responding to a ShotSpotter activation on Birch St. late Saturday night.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., Worcester Police officers were dispatched following alerts of gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival, officers observed a male, later identified as Christian Tian-Salvador, running up the stairs of a nearby residence.

A thorough investigation led to the discovery of a loaded handgun in the common area of the apartment building.

Tian-Salvador, a resident of Birch St., is now facing several charges including Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm and Feeding Device, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, Improper Storage of a Firearm, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.

The Worcester Police Department has not released any information regarding the motives behind the gunfire or if any injuries were sustained during the incident.

Tian-Salvador is currently being held pending arraignment.

The case remains under investigation as police continue to gather information and speak with potential witnesses.
