Two arrested after stolen vehicle crashes into tree in Middlesex

MIDDLESEX — Two people were arrested following an incident in Middlesex yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a stolen vehicle traveling on I-89 at around 2:00 p.m.

Police say they observed the vehicle and attempted to stop it.

The vehicle fled and crashed into a tree.

When troopers arrived, and the occupants had already exited the vehicle, police say.

The occupants were identified as Richard Atkinson, 36, of Middlesex, and Jamiee Renfrew, 33, of Middlesex.

Police say both provided false statements and attempted to implicate someone else in the crime.

The vehicle they were operating was confirmed to have been stolen from New Hampshire the week prior.

It is currently unknown if they were responsible for stealing it.

Both were issued citations for the offenses of possession of stolen property, providing false information to law enforcement, and operating without owner’s consent.
