ROYALTON — A 38-year-old man was arrested following an incident in Royalton early this morning.

Authorities say they were notified of a burglary that occurred at a home on Route 14 at around 12:50 a.m.

Police allege that Jesse J. Durkee, of Royalton, accessed the home by force through a locked door.

Police say that Durkee threatened the homeowners when entering the home.

One round from a Sig Sauer pistol was fired by a 50-year-old woman during the incident, police say.

Police say Durkee did not sustain any injury from the incident as the bullet traveled through the home and to the exterior of the home.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Vermont State Police Royalton barracks for processing.

He was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility.
