Suspect apprehended in Essex Junction burglary case

ESSEX JUNCTION –– An early morning burglary on October 8, led to a successful apprehension of a suspect by Essex Police.

At around 3:47 a.m., police responded to a burglary in progress on Pleasant Street. An officer, working in plain clothes due to recent thefts, arrived at the scene and observed a person removing a bicycle from a resident’s garage.

The suspect, later identified as Meghan Gaboury, 34, of South Hero, attempted to flee the scene on foot.

However, after a brief foot chase involving uniformed officers, Gaboury was apprehended. During the investigation, officers discovered that Gaboury had taken not only the bicycle, but also a skateboard and several smaller items from the garage.

Gaboury has been cited to appear in Chittenden Superior Court at a later date.

All stolen items were recovered and returned to their rightful owners.

In light of the incident, Sgt. Chistolini, who issued the report, and Officer Whalley, a contact for the case, remind residents of Essex Junction City to lock their car doors and remove any items of value when the vehicle is unattended.
