Driver charged after clocked doing 110 mph in Royalton

ROYALTON — A 26-year-old man from Connecticut was cited following an incident in Royalton yesterday.

Police say they were conducting speed enforcement on I-89 south at around 6:20 p.m.

The driver was pulled over after observing a vehicle traveling 110 miles-per-hour in a posted 65 miles-per-hour speed limit zone.

The driver was identified as Nicholas Basso, of New Milford, CT.

Basso was issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for speeding with a waiver penalty of $668.

Police say he was released with a citation to answer the charge of excessive speed and negligent operation.
