HOOKSETT –– The Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning Thursday regarding a phone scam involving false warrants for missed jury duty.

Authorities confirmed they have received multiple calls from concerned residents who were contacted by an individual claiming to be Lt. Dean Kilkenny.

The caller alleges the resident has a warrant due to missed jury duty and needs to either turn themselves in or pay a fine.

The Sheriff’s Office clarified that no one by the name of Lt. Dean Kilkenny is employed by them.

They also emphasized that they would never request payment for fines over the phone.

The Sheriff’s Office is urging residents not to disclose any personal information or pay any “fines” if contacted by the impersonator.

Residents who are concerned they may have a legitimate warrant are advised to contact the Sheriff’s Office warrants division directly at (603) 796-6600 ext 3.
