Fatal crash in Clarendon

CLARENDON — A 70-year-old man from West Rutland was killed during a crash in Clarendon yesterday.

The two-vehicle crash took place at the intersection of US Route 7 and North Shrewsbury Road at around 11:20 a.m.

According to the report, Roy Loomis was traveling west on North Shrewsbury Road prior to the crash.

Police say Loomis failed to stop at a red light and entered the intersection.

Loomis was struck by Nicholas Winne, 38, of West Rutland, who was traveling south on US Route 7 through the intersection.

Police say Loomis was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is being asked to contact the Vermont State Police.

Troopers were assisted on the scene by Regional Ambulance Service, Clarendon Fire Department, and Vermont AOT.
