RUTLAND — A 33-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges following an incident in Rutland early yesterday morning.

Authorities say they were alerted to a vehicle break-in occurring in Rutland Town at around 1:50 a.m.

Police say they responded to the area and were able to locate the suspect, identified as Zach Lapoint, of Rutland.

Lapoint was found to have an outstanding warrant and was taken into custody on the warrant and lodged at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility.

Following an investigation, police say that Lapoint had stolen property from a vehicle as well as provided false information to police.

Lapoint arrived at the Rutland State Police barracks in the evening after being released and was taken into custody for his actions the night before.

Police say a search of Lapoint’s person revealed a credit card that did not belong to him, and he provided more false information to the police.

He was processed and issued conditions of release and a criminal citation to appear for the charges of possession of stolen property, false information to law enforcement, illegal possession, petit larceny, and the warrant.
