HAMPTON –– Local authorities are seeking public assistance in locating 37-year-old Elton Stanley, charged with second degree assault following an incident Thursday at a Speedway Gas Station that left one person hospitalized with serious injuries.

According to Hampton Police Chief Alex Reno, Stanley allegedly fired a flare gun at the victim, striking them in the face, at the gas station on Lafayette Road around 4 p.m.

The station was temporarily shut down for investigation.

The victim, transported to the hospital by the Hampton Fire Department, remains in stable condition.

Stanley fled the scene before officers arrived and is currently at large.

“We have a warrant for his arrest on charges of second degree assault and reckless conduct, both felonies,” Reno stated.

Stanley is described as 5-foot, 9-inches tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds, with dreadlocks.
