Driver injured during crash with moose in Shaftsbury

SHAFTSBURY — A 56-year-old man from Bennington was involved in a crash with a moose in Shaftsbury today.

The incident took place on U.S. Route 7, near mile marker 21.8, at around 5:40 a.m.

According to the report, William Slade was traveling north before the collision with the moose.

Police say a moose appeared in front of his vehicle and he collided with it.

As a result, the vehicle was totaled, and Slade sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

Slade was transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center by Arlington Rescue Squad for further medical treatment.

State Police were assisted by the Vermont Game Wardens, Arlington Rescue Squad, Shaftsbury Fire Department, and Monarch’s Towing.
