ST. JOHNSBURY — A 41-year-old man from Concord is facing multiple charges following an incident in St. Johnsbury on Thursday.

Police say they observed a purple Toyota FJ with several unique identifiers traveling at the intersection of US 5 and Hospital Drive at around 6:20 p.m.

Troopers identified the FJ as matching the vehicle description provided during a suspicious activity complaint from days earlier.

Simultaneously, police say they noted several equipment violations and initiated a traffic stop.

Inside the vehicle were three occupants, one of which was a juvenile.

Police say that Timothy Briggs was wanted on a warrant and in violation of his conditions of release.

A search incident to arrest of Briggs led to the discovery of narcotics on his person.

Field sobriety tests were also conducted, which led troopers to believe Briggs was under the influence of narcotics while operating a motor vehicle.

He was taken into custody for the charges of DUI drugs, possession of narcotics, cruelty to a child, violation of conditions of release, and the outstanding warrant for possession of cocaine.

Two separate court dates were issued for the above charges.
