East Windsor police arrest wanted suspect following Dollar General shoplifting

EAST WINDSOR — Police apprehended a suspect with an outstanding felony arrest warrant on May 5 after a shoplifting incident at a local Dollar General store in Broad Brook.

At 9:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the retail location following a complaint from store staff.

The suspect’s description and partial vehicle registration were relayed to the responding officers, who were able to match the information to a known individual with a warrant for his arrest.

Upon arriving at the suspect’s residence, the individual fled through the back door, leading police on a chase into the dense woods of Springdale Cemetery on Main Street.

East Windsor Police, with assistance from the Windsor Locks Police Department, quickly established a perimeter to contain the suspect.

Officer Mitchell and his K9 partner, Mylo, joined the operation to track down the suspect.

Demonstrating their skilled training, Officer Mitchell and Mylo located the suspect hidden within the thick brush.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The successful capture is being hailed as a prime example of interdepartmental cooperation and the effectiveness of police teamwork in maintaining community safety in East Windsor.
