Man arrested for shooting in Tunbridge

TUNBRIDGE — A 65-year-old man from Rhode Island was arrested following a shooting incident in Tunbridge yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a shooting on New Brighton Hill Road at around 2:40 p.m.

Following an investigation, police allege that Brent Morrill, 55, of Tunbridge, was confronted by a neighbor, Thomas Hynes, 65, of Saunderstown, while walking on New Brighton Hill Road.

Police say a shooting took place and the victim sustained no physical injury.

One gunshot struck the ground, police say.

Following an investigation, Thomas Hynes was arrested and processed at the Royalton barracks for the charges of aggravated assault, and unlawful restraint in the first degree.

He was remanded to Southern State Correctional Facility on a hold without bail.
