FAIR HAVEN –– A New York man was arrested last month in connection with an attempted larceny case. Brad M. Gordon, 39, of Whitehall, was taken into custody on Aug. 26 by Fair Haven Police after being implicated in an attempted theft incident earlier that day.

The incident occurred at Maplefields on Washington Street. According to police, Gordon allegedly attempted to break into a cargo box located on a parked vehicle.

The owner of the vehicle, who was inside at the time, startled Gordon, causing him to flee the scene.

Officers Cheri McDermott and Mark Gutel responded to the incident and conducted an investigation, which led to the identification and subsequent arrest of Gordon.

He was later issued a citation to appear in Rutland District court to answer to charges of unlawful mischief and attempted larceny.

The arrest is the result of a quick response by the Fair Haven Police and the vigilance of the vehicle owner. Further details about the case will be revealed during the court proceedings.
