Driver charged with multiple drug offenses in Rockingham

ROCKINGHAM –– A routine traffic stop on Route 102 led to the arrest of a 40-year-old woman on multiple drug charges on September 13.

Officer Burt initiated the stop at approximately 9 a.m. due to several motor vehicle infractions. During the interaction with the vehicle’s occupants, Burt noticed items typically associated with the consumption of illegal drugs.

Further investigation resulted in the discovery of around 38 grams of suspected cocaine within the vehicle.

The driver, identified as Catherine Booker, with no fixed address, was subsequently taken into custody.

Booker faces charges including Possession of a Controlled Drug, Transporting Drugs in a Motor Vehicle, Control of a Premises Where Drugs are Kept, Defective Equipment, and operating an Uninspected Vehicle.

Following her arrest, the vehicle was seized, and additional charges could follow pending the completion of a search warrant.

Booker was released on Personal Recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Rockingham Superior Court on October 11.

As per law, all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
