NEWBURY — A 27-year-old man from Sharon was cited following a crash in Newbury last month.

On August 24, authorities were notified of a single-vehicle crash on Water Street at around 7:10 p.m.

Police say Tevon Carter was operating a 2002 Saturn SL2 south on US Route 5 and failed to maintain his lane, resulting in exiting the east side of the road.

A power line was destroyed as a result of the crash, resulting in a power outage.

Carter displayed signs of impairment while speaking to troopers.

He was transported to Cottage Hospital for the treatment of suspected minor injuries.

An evidentiary blood sample was obtained from Carter and he was later determined to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

He was issued a citation to appear in court to answer to the charge of criminal DLS and DUI #2.

Troopers were assisted on the scene by members of the Wells River Fire Department, Green Mountain Power, and Woodsville Ambulance.
