Hampton woman arrested in connection with vehicle-pedestrian crash

HAMPTON –– A Hampton woman has been arrested following a crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on August 30, officials from the Hampton Police Department said on Tuesday.

The crash took place on Winnacunnet Road near Towle Avenue around 9:37 p.m. According to the police report, the pedestrian was found lying on the road and was rushed to the hospital with serious bodily injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 59-year-old Karen A. Haraden of Hampton, was arrested after an initial investigation. Haraden has been charged with Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs, a Class B felony.

Following the incident, the Hampton Fire Department transported the pedestrian to the hospital. The New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CAR) Unit was called in to assist with the crash reconstruction and analysis.

Haraden was booked by the Hampton Police Department and released on personal recognizance. She was then transferred to the Rockingham County Jail under protective custody.

Haraden is scheduled for arraignment on October 5 at the Rockingham County Superior Court.

The crash is still under investigation and police are releasing limited information at this time.
