Man arrested for attempted arson in Wardsboro

WARDSBORO — A 64-year-old man was arrested following an incident in Wardsboro yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of an attempted arson on Hunt Road at around 7:20 p.m.

Police allege that James Beaton, of Wardsboro, committed the offenses of 2nd degree arson, reckless endangerment, unlawful mischief, and unlawful mischief.

He was located a short time later and transported to the Westminster barracks for processing.

After processing Beaton was cited to appear in court today and ordered to be held on $10,000 bail.

He was transported and lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility where he was ordered to be held.
