Hikers rescued on Dublin Trail on Mount Monadnock

DUBLIN –– Two hikers, overtaken by darkness without lights on Mount Monadnock’s Dublin Trail, were rescued by New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers late Sunday evening.

Bret Talbert, 55, of Charlton, MA and Louis Kern, 81, of Dummerston, were on the Dublin Trail when darkness fell around 8:30 p.m. on September 3.

Kern began experiencing difficulty walking and muscle fatigue, prompting a call to the Conservation Officers.

Officers reached the hikers and assisted them back to Old Troy Road, reaching the trailhead at approximately 10:10 PM.

Neither hiker required further medical attention.

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers remind outdoor enthusiasts to adequately prepare for hiking trips.

Necessary items include lights, water, and food.
