Rutland shooting claims life of Albany man

RUTLAND –– A shooting in Rutland on Cherry Street has left a 35-year-old Albany man dead, according to authorities.

Police responded to an active physical altercation at 50 Cherry Street Apartment 2 on Saturday, September 2.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

A subsequent search of the residence revealed the body of Santonieg K. Miller, 35, of Albany, New York.

The Rutland City Police Department Bureau of Criminal Investigations, in conjunction with the Vermont State Police Crime Scene Search Team, are spearheading the ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

Preliminary investigation indicates this was an isolated event and there is no current threat to the community.
