Charges filed following fatal crash in Braintree

BRAINTREE — A man from Massachusetts was arrested following a fatal crash that took place in Braintree earlier this month.

On August 13, authorities were notified of a single-vehicle crash on Braintree Hill Road at around 8:00 p.m.

Police say the vehicle was back on the road when they arrived.

While speaking with the driver, identified as Pedro Guadalupe, 28, of Springfield, MA, he fled the scene and crashed a short distance from the original crash scene.

Multiple passengers were transported for their injuries.

Guadalupe was identified as the driver.

A passenger in the vehicle, 80-year-old Raymond Martin, of Eden, was transported to Gifford Medical Center with serious injuries and later transferred to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Martin died at the hospital.

Guadalupe is facing charges of eluding a police officer, grossly negligent operation with death resulting, duty to stop, and reckless endangerment in connection with this incident.

State police are working with the Orange County State’s Attorney’s Office on this case.
