Woman arrested in connection with catalytic converter thefts in Cornish and Plainfield

CORNISH –– Following a two-month investigation, a woman has been arrested in connection with the catalytic converter thefts that occured on June 9, in Cornish and Plainfield.

Shayla Malec of Lebanon, New Hampshire, was taken into custody Friday afternoon after a collaborative effort involving the Cornish Police, Plainfield Police, and detectives from the Lebanon Police Department.

Malec was arrested on several felony charges of conspiracy to commit theft by unauthorized taking. She was reportedly on release at the time of her arrest.

After her arrest, Malec was held at the Sullivan County House of Corrections and is pending arraignment in Sullivan County Superior Court.
