Driver charged with DUI #2 in Eden

EDEN — A 48-year-old man from Newport was arrested following an incident in Eden on Friday.

Police say they initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was traveling 101 miles-per-hour in a posted 50 miles-per-hour zone on Vermont Route 100 at the intersection of Boy Scout Camp Road, at around 8:15 p.m.

The driver was identified as Cory Rivard.

Rivard was found to be operating a motor vehicle with a criminally suspended license as well as actively violating two sets of court-ordered conditions of release.

While speaking with Rivard, police say they detected several indicators of impairment.

He was arrested and transported to the Morrisville Police Department for processing.

At the conclusion of processing, Rivard was issued a citation to appear in court on September 6 to answer to the charges of DUI #2, violation of conditions of release, driving with a criminally suspended license, and excessive speed.
