Two dead in Warren crash on VT Route 100

WARREN –– A tragic two-vehicle collision on VT Route 100 near Leland Jones Rd left both drivers dead on Monday night.

The deceased have been identified as Harley LaPlante, 37, of Warren, VT, who was driving a 2020 Mazda M3, and Douglas Morrill, 61, of Granville, VT, who was operating a 2013 Ford Explorer.

Vermont State Police reports indicate that Morrill was driving northbound on VT Route 100, staying within his lane while navigating a right-hand curve.

In contrast, LaPlante, who was traveling southbound, had drifted entirely into the northbound lane.

The catastrophic head-on collision took place in the northbound lane, leaving both vehicles incapacitated and blocking Route 100.

Both vehicles sustained total damage due to the severity of the impact. The drivers, who were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
