HARTFORD –– The Hartford Police Department is warning residents of a scam where someone is calling and asking for monetary donations for the department, according to a statement released Friday.

The department has recently received a fraud complaint where an unidentified person made a phone call asking for financial contributions to support the Hartford Police Department.

The police have confirmed that they do not and have not authorized any such requests for donations.
