MENDON –– A two-car collision on US Route 4 near Craigs Lane resulted in one fatality on Aug. 11 around 7:22 p.m.

An initial probe suggests that the first vehicle, a 1983 Volkswagen Vanago, veered off its eastbound lane, striking a guardrail.

It then re-entered the travel lane, colliding with a second vehicle also heading east. The impact caused the Volkswagen to roll onto its side.

Both vehicles eventually halted in the eastbound lane.

The operator of the Volkswagen, whose name is withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene. They were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.

The second vehicle was driven by Saudin Radoncic, 50, of Billerica, Ma, who sustained no injuries. He was accompanied by a passenger, Shane Radoncic, 20, also of Billerica, Ma, who was likewise unharmed.
