Pittsfield man with active warrants arrested, charged with firearms offences

PITTSFIELD –– A routine motor vehicle stop led to the arrest of a Pittsfield man who was wanted on two active warrants related to firearm offences on August 9.

Patrol officer conducting a routine stop in the downtown area spotted 21-year-old Jah’rell Mayes, who was wanted on two active warrants.

Officers from the Anti-Crime Unit were immediately summoned to assist in the apprehension.

With the aid of the patrol officer, the Anti-Crime Unit located and arrested Mayes.

A loaded .40 caliber handgun was found tucked into his waistband during the frisk.

Mayes was charged with several firearms related offences, in addition to the two active warrants.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in District Court this morning.
