DUNBARTON –– A local man was apprehended following a police pursuit on July 4, according to the Dunbarton Police Department.

Joseph Crawford, 32, was arrested after a weeks-long investigation.

The incident began when Dunbarton Police Sergeant Brian Tyler attempted to stop a GMC pickup truck driven by Crawford due to several traffic violations on Morse Road and Twist Hill Road.

However, Crawford did not stop, leading Sergeant Tyler on a brief chase towards Goffstown.

The pursuit was quickly discontinued due to Crawford’s reckless driving and concern for the safety of the public.

Following the chase, Dunbarton Police Department launched an investigation and later identified Crawford as the operator of the vehicle.

Crawford was processed on a Dunbarton Police Department arrest warrant at the New Hampshire State Prison in Concord on August 9, 2023, where he was already being held for an unrelated parole violation.

The parole violation stemmed from another police chase in New Hampshire that took place on July 22, 2023.

Crawford is set to be arraigned in Merrimack County Superior Court later today.

Charges against him include felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, being a habitual offender, and falsifying physical evidence.

Misdemeanor charges include driving without proof, disobeying a police officer, and operating after revocation or suspension due to a DWI conviction.

Additional violations include reckless driving and two highway marking violations.

The Dunbarton Police Department extended their thanks to partner law enforcement agencies for their assistance in the investigation.
