Nashua man faces multiple charges for domestic violence assault

NASHUA –– On Monday, Nashua police arrested a local man, Peter Hernandez Jr., 26, on multiple charges related to a domestic violence incident, including a felony count of second-degree assault and strangulation, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault and a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief.

The arrest followed an incident that occurred at 3:35 a.m. on August 5.

According to authorities, the victim, who identified Hernandez Jr. as her current partner, reported that he physically assaulted her.

Further investigation by detectives revealed that during the course of the assault, Hernandez Jr. allegedly strangled the victim with his arm, causing her breathing to be impeded. It was also found that Hernandez Jr. had damaged the victim’s cell phone.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers placed Hernandez Jr. under arrest.

He was held on preventative detention and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Hillsborough County Superior Court.
