Allenstown man drowns in Lake Sunapee

NEWBURY –– A man who drowned in Lake Sunapee has been identified as a resident of Allenstown, according to New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol.

Authorities received a call reporting a swimmer who went under water near a raft close to Newbury.

Witnesses located the swimmer minutes later, pulled him out of the water, and immediately began performing CPR.

First responders arrived at the scene, took over resuscitation efforts, and transported the man to New London Hospital where he was pronounced dead later that evening.

The victim was identified as Alexander Genthner, 23, of Allenstown, according to the NHSP Public Information Officer.
