Newbury man arrested on assault charges

NEWBURY — A 55-year-old Newbury man is facing domestic assault charges following an incident at a residence on Mace Road.

The incident occurred on August 2, at around 5:59 p.m., when the Vermont State Police were called to the scene of a reported altercation. Upon arrival, officers identified William Britton as one of the parties involved.

Further investigation by the police revealed that Britton had inflicted bodily harm on another household member. In accordance with state policy, the police have not disclosed the identity of the victim.

Britton was subsequently arrested and taken to the St. Johnsbury State Police Bradford Outpost for further processing. He was later lodged at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility for lack of $1,000 bail.

The case remains under investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
