Driver arrested after eluding police in Sheldon

SHELDON — A 30-year-old man from Fairfield was arrested following an incident in Sheldon yesterday.

Police say they attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a vehicle that was unable to maintain its lane of travel on Route 105 by Machia Road at around 11:15 p.m.

The vehicle fled onto a nearby homeowners’ front lawn and then the driver proceeded to elude on foot.

Police say there was no vehicle pursuit.

The driver was shortly located and identified as Derek Jettie.

Jettie was placed into custody for suspicion of DUI and transported to the St. Albans State Police barracks for processing.

He was later released to a sober party and issued a citation to appear in court on August 7 for the charges of DUI refusal, negligent operation, attempting to elude, and false information to LE.
